Hellertown Upgrade
Project Description
Our team played a pivotal role in engineering design and permitting for the replacement of an existing high-pressure system in Hellertown, PA. This project focused on connecting the existing 16-inch steel gas main to the 16-inch tie-in point, serving as the primary inlet to the Bethlehem Plant Station. It included the installation of approximately 2 miles of 20-inch HP steel natural gas pipeline, including a tie-in to UGI’s existing system.
The firm's strategic designs were instrumental in avoiding impacts to exceptional value wetlands, allowing us to qualify for a general permit with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) instead of a joint permit. This approach not only ensured compliance with environmental regulations but also streamlined the permit submission process, saving valuable time in the project timeline.
