AED Energy Services (AEDES) recently attended the INGAA Foundation 2026 Mid-Year Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, where leaders from across the natural gas and energy infrastructure industry gathered to discuss the issues affecting projects today and the direction of the industry in the years ahead.
The INGAA Foundation brings together pipeline operators, engineering firms, contractors, manufacturers and other industry partners to examine issues across the development, construction, operation and maintenance of natural gas infrastructure. Its mission is built around sharing knowledge, conducting research and bringing different parts of the industry together to address common challenges.
Those challenges were reflected throughout this year’s meeting. Sessions addressed growing U.S. electricity demand, permitting reform and environmental review, coordination between natural gas and electric infrastructure, pipeline integrity, worker safety and security, workforce development and emerging technologies. The Foundation also reviewed the status of its 2026 research program, including work related to artificial intelligence, construction practices, pipeline integrity, field safety and new approaches to workforce training.
These are not isolated industry topics. They influence how infrastructure is planned, permitted, designed, constructed and ultimately operated. For an engineering firm such as AEDES, whose work spans natural gas, petroleum, power and utility infrastructure, understanding how operators, regulators and other service providers are approaching these issues provides important context for the work being done with clients every day.
That is also why continued participation in organizations such as the INGAA Foundation matters. No single company experiences infrastructure challenges from every perspective. Operators, engineers, contractors, environmental professionals and regulators each encounter a different part of the process. Bringing those perspectives together creates an opportunity to identify shared concerns, exchange lessons learned and support research that can be applied across the industry.
