AEDES Engineers and Environmental Specialists Approved for PADEP SPEED Program

We are proud to announce that several team members from AED Energy Services (AEDES) have been officially approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) as Qualified Professionals for permit application reviews under the department’s SPEED (Streamlining Permits for Economic Expansion and Development) Program.

This recognition reflects more than just technical credentials—it underscores AEDES’s commitment to advancing responsible development through expert, efficient, and environmentally sound review processes.

Environmental permitting plays a crucial role in balancing infrastructure growth with environmental protection. Chapter 102 permits help control erosion and sediment during earth disturbance activities, while Chapter 105 permits regulate encroachments on waterways, wetlands, and floodways. As Pennsylvania sees increased activity in sectors like energy, transportation, and development, the need for timely and thorough permit reviews has never been greater.

By participating in the SPEED Program, AEDES is helping reduce permitting backlogs and ensuring that critical projects across the Commonwealth can move forward—without compromising environmental standards.

The company’s approval for both Chapter 102 and 105 reviews is a testament to the strength and depth of its internal resources. AEDES brings a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and environmental professionals, each with the credentials and experience needed to support complex permitting requirements. This includes professionals licensed as Professional Engineers (P.E.) and certified environmental specialists with decades of combined experience in regulatory compliance.

We are excited to congratulate the following team members, who have been recognized by PADEP as Qualified Professionals for the SPEED Program:

  • Samuel P. Gilbert, P.E.Civil Engineer
  • Henry D. Wills, P.E.Civil Engineer
  • Wendy Schellhamer, LEED APEnvironmental Manager
  • Peter M. GaskinsSenior Environmental Specialist
  • James T. HunkeleSenior Environmental Specialist
  • James M. McGinleySenior Environmental Specialist

AEDES is excited to support PADEP’s goals and help public and private entities move their projects from design to reality—faster and more responsibly. With this partnership, AEDES is reaffirming its position as a trusted ally in the region’s development while staying true to its core values of integrity, technical excellence, and environmental stewardship.

As the Commonwealth continues to modernize its infrastructure and energy systems, AEDES is ready to support that progress—one permit at a time.
