PA Turnpike and Neshaminy Creek HDDs
Project Description
AEDES completed the design of two 16-inch water mains for the purpose of connecting existing water systems. These water mains were utilized as water transmission mains in Bucks County, PA.
The first project was a crossing of the Pennsylvania Turnpike just east of Exit 351 for Route 1 and is in Bensalem Township. The water main route for the Pennsylvania Turnpike crossing involved approximately 2,300 linear feet of new main, with 130- foot HDD and tied into an existing main north of the turnpike and into a new water storage tank south of the turnpike.
The second project was a crossing of the Neshaminy Creek in the vicinity of Bristol Pike (Route 13) and Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor rail line and was in both Bristol and Bensalem Townships. The routing of the proposed water main consisted of a combination of HDD (1200 feet) and over 3000 feet of conventional trench construction method to connect the systems.
